I received a Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa in 2004 and worked as a therapist in South Africa for 15 years before immigrating to Canada. I have extensive experience working with adults, adolescents and couples. I am a member of The Ontario Psychological Association and a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
My sense is that therapy is a space for a person (or couple) to build the skills and confidence to lead their best life. It is about assisting an individual to develop strong healthy relationships with themselves and others. My aim in therapy is to provide a warm and supportive environment. My approach is client-focused, combining a directive approach with a safe and containing space for clients to explore and overcome their difficulties. I utilize Mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, EMDR and contemporary Psychodynamic therapy to provide a treatment approach specific to the needs of the client.
I provide therapy to adults and older adolescents in an individual therapy setting. In addition I offer couples counselling. My areas of clinical interest include:
Anxiety and chronic worrying
Post-traumatic stress disorder and trauma
Concentration and motivation concerns
Sport and performance psychology
Feelings of loneliness and isolation
Low self-esteem and confidence
Grief and bereavment
Relationship and interpersonal difficulties
Mental health difficulties related to gastrointestinal concerns
