Gonzalo Osorio Ruchichi

Gonzalo Osorio Ruchichi / M.A., Psych. Associate (Supervised Practice) (He/Him)

Both my Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and my Bachelor degree in Social Sciences, were completed at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. I then trained for 2 years in a specialization program for Psychotherapy.  In addition to my 10 years of clinical experience, I was a professor at the undergraduate psychology program at Saint Alberto Hurtado University and at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.  Currently, I have joined the The Cohen Clinic team, and  work in supervision with Kim Foster Yardley, M.A., C.Psych, and Dr. Amber Cohen, C.Psych., as I register with The College of Psychologists of Ontario. My services are available in English and in Spanish.

MY APPROACH

There are many reasons why Psychotherapy is so essential in our society. Since its emergence in the last years of the nineteenth century, this conversational-based practice has given people a chance to understand their lives and find their own paths to freedom. Yes, I said their own paths because therapy isn’t about Psychologists telling their clients what to do. In fact, it is about collaboration – I believe a therapist’s job is not to solve their clients’ issues but to allow clients to discover their huge amount of untapped resources waiting to be used. By doing that, therapists let their clients be in charge of their own change. That is the beauty of therapy.
